There she shes new things and is taken in as a hostage daughter. The Kings family, which includes queen Petra his wife, don't see her as a simple peasent. They see her as a daughter and think of her marked by her goddess of yesturday, whom they worshiped back on her old island. He takes Helen to Troy to marry, which is treason. Anaxandra is forced to go with in Helens daughters Hermoine since everyone knew she would be killed. There she falls in love and has to fight for her life.
This was one of my favorite adventure books so far and I could not put it down. It had very interesting facts and many battles.

Review For Wicked: Witch & Curse

Wicked: Witch & Curse
By Nancy Holder & Debbie Viguie
Published By Simon Pulse In 2006
Pages 627
Themes/ Subjects: Witches, Past Generation, Revenge, Covens
First Line: "Oh Great."
These two books combined are about two rival witch covens that have a long, old history: The Cahors and the Deveraux. 17-year oldHolly Cathers was in Arizona for a vacation and they were rafting in the Grand Canyon when there was a huge storm and all of the people including her parents, best friend, and tour guide. She was the only survivor. She goes to live with her best friends mom but she is severly hurt and no one knows why she won't get better. So she goes to live with her aunt, Marie-Claire Cathers-Anderson, her uncle Richard, and two 17-year old cousins Amanda and Nicole who Holly didn't know existed until her parents died. While there in Seattle she gets a deaf, completely white, blue-eyed cat named Bast, after a goddess. Whenever Holly tells her a wish it comes true. Then she meets Jer Deveraux, whom she didn't know was her families enemy, and she falls in love with him even though they are not able to associate with each other. Throughout the rest of this book Michael, Jer's father, tries to kill the rest of the Cathers family. This trails on into the next book where Holly and her cousin Amanda start there own coven and practice their wizardry. They battle the Deveraux etc. etc.
The rest of the book drags on and it made me really bored with it.

Review For Heart On My Sleeve

Heart On My Sleeve
By Ellen Wittlinger
Published by Simon Pulse in 2004
Pages 214
Themes/Subjects: E-mails, Relationships, Family, Love

First Line" Hey Julian!"

The main character Chloe goes to Connecticut for a weekend to check out a college and she meets a guy Julian. They get to know each other in many "ways". When Chloe leaves she starts emailing Julian and thinks that maybe she should break-up with her boyfriend Eli who is also her best friend. Chloe launches herself into a world of e-mails and IM-ing. She can't wait until Julian comes to Boston and while shes waiting the whole summer for it to happen her sister comes out of the closet, she goes to volunteer at the camp which is her second home and meets ANOTHER guy that she thinks is a jerk but then starts to really like in the end. Her whole summer is full of drama, big crushes and learning to accept the new.
Overall this book was very drawn out and sometimes you got bored with the long messages and you just skip over those parts. There were some very good parts to it but at the end you just think "Well that wasn't worth the time" This wasn't the worst but not the best

*Spolier Alert* Review For The Dead And The Gone By Susan Beth Pfeffer

book: The Dead And The Gone By Susan Beth Pfeffer
Published By Graphia 2008
Pages 308
Themes/Subjects: End Of The World, Survival, Faith In God, Family

First Line:" At the moment when life as he had known it changed forever, Alex Morales was behind the counter at Joey's Pizza, slicing a spinach pesto pie into eight roughly equal pieces."

This book was about Alex Morales, a 17 year old puerto-rican boy living in New York City. One day while at work an astroid hit the moon and pushed it closer to the Earth causing catastrophic events which cause most of the people in the world to die. His Father, who was in Puerto-Rico when this happened, his Mother, who went to work in Queens that night, and his brother Carlos, who is in the Marines, are never to be heard of again. He is left to take care of his two younger sisters, Brianna, who is 14, and Julie, just on the verge of 13. He sends Brianna off to a convent where she would get food and warmth. This would help Julie and him save food since it was all running out around the world. Just as soon as things couldn't get worse, all the volcanoes in the world start errupting causing ash to block out sunlight.
Then, many bodies started appearing on the streets so Alex and his friend Kevin go bodyshopping to get coats and many other things to trade for food. This goes well until Brianna comes bad with a horrible case of asthma which was caused by all the ash in the air. All three of them struggle through December, and they are hit with grief. Kevin died while body shopping with Alex and a tree limb fell on his neck, and Brianna died on an elevator going up to the floor they are on, with her inhaler and rosary beads in her hands. Alex and Julie finally get a way to get out of New York before they run out of food.
This book was not the best because Alex was always ordering his sisters around and he didn't care if they wanted to do it or not. Also because they had a lot of dead bodies in it which were described very well and gave you a bad image. I would recommend this to anyone who is a guy and won't get grossed out at the descriptions.

My embarrassing moment is from this past May when my whole grade went on a trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we went to a buffet at the end of the trip and me and my friends were cracking up about something and then another girl told us that something weird was going on in the womans bathroom so me and my other friend followed the other girl (we were still cracking up and not paying attention to anything) so when we got to the bathroom my crush happened to just appear out of no where so me and my friend shrieked really loudly.

I think i shall pass this along to Paperdoll at Book Memoirs
, Elyssa at Broken Daydreams & A Literary Odyssey, and Julie at 5-squared

Review For Wintergirls By Laurie Halse Anderson

Book: Wintergirls By Laurie Halse Anderson
Published by Viking Juvenile 2009
Pages 282
Finished July 13, 2010
Themes/Subjects: Family, Letting Go, Love, Food, Being Skinny

First Line:"So she tells me, the words dribbling out with the cranberry muffin crumbs, commas dunked in her coffee"

This book centers on a teenage girl named Lia, who is dealing with the loss of her ex-best-friend, Cassie, who died from damage in her stomach, livers, etc. which was caused by puking herself right after eating a heavy meal. She called Lia 33 times, leaving voice mails on every call. But Lia was too mad at her to pick up. "She died in a motel room alone" is what starts haunting Lia everyday until finally Cassie starts haunting her herself and she tells Lia, "Your not dead, but your not alive, your a wintergirl."
This book revolves around Lia slipping back into her old eating habits : eating basically nothing at all. While her family keeps trying to eat more she finally goes too far and and cut open her torso. But this did not do any good because her stepsister, Emma found her in the bathroom cutting herself. The rest of the book is about Lia learning how to defeat Cassie and eating healthy.
This book was phenomenal. Even though there was some gross parts, hence the cutting her torso open, it was still intriguing and put you in awe at how this actually happens in some peoples lives. I recommend this to anyone because they need to see the truth about these sorts of people.

Review For The Eyeliner Of The Gods By Katie Maxwell

The Eyeliner Of The Gods By Katie Maxwell
Published By Mass Market Paperback 2004
Pages: 198
Finished July 11,2010
Themes/ Subjects: Curses, Egypt, Lies, Love

First Line: "
Cairo (Jan News): Sixteen year old American January James arrived in Egypt earlier this month and single-handely solved a centuries old curse attached to the mummy of..."

January James, a non-talented person, is sent to Egypt for conservation dig at the pyramids. She thought that this would be the best place to become famous and that she would hit it off right from the start but of course she was wrong. She meets a guy, who says hes really the reincarnation of an evil god, she hates but falls in love with, gets in hold of a cursed bracelet and finds her true talent.
This book was a very fast read. It doesn't have a lot of deep thinking since January got very jealous and shallow every single chapter. This was not my favorite books and i would not recommend it to anyone since the main character is a very agitating person and will get on your nerves.

Review For The Secrets Of My Hollywood Life

Book: The Secrets Of My Hollywood Life By Jen Calonita
Published By Little, Brown Young Readers 2007
Pages: 256
Finished July 10, 2010
Themes/ Subjects: Stardom, Revenge, Secret Plots, Romance

First Line: "I'm going to let you in on a little HOLLYWOOD SECRET: Movie stars don't always get along."

This book was about a big T.V star, Kaitlin Burke, who just wanted a simple break. Not that she was going to get one. She is one of the characters of the new Soap Opera, Family Affairs, who played the twin of one of her most hated people ever: Sky Mckenzie. Kaitlin didnt think she would ever be able to get a break and have a real teen life. Or so she thought.
Thats when she goes undercover as Rachel, a British transfer student, at her best friend Liz's school. There she finds herself in love, enjoying hanging out with her new friends, and enjoying her freedom. But when Sky suspects something she starts trying to ruin Kaitlins star reputation that she yearns for.
This book was very dramatic and all the choices Kaitlin found herself making seemed to all go wrong. But with a little help of her friends, make-up and hair stylist, assistant and family, she makes it through on a very big finale that catches everyones attention. I suggest this book as a beach read

Review For The Candy Darlings By Christine Walde

Book: The Candy Darlings by Christine Walde
Published By Graphia 2006
Pages 310
Finished: July 8, 2010
Themes: Young-Adult, Fiction, Stories, Romance, Friendship

First Line: "Once upon a time, I saw the the way I thought I was supposed to: as a place where the normal reigned and the the weak perished under the strong."

This book is revolving around two friends: one whose name is never mentioned and Megan who was obsessed with candy and thinks its her only way of survival. In the beginning the main character (unknown) is trying to cope with the loss of her mother and a move to a different home. She is at first starting to become a part of the popular group at school, MAL, standing for Meredith, Angela and Laura. But as soon as mysterious Megan steps on the scene, the main character becomes suddenly enthralled into a world of stories, candy, hatred, and romance, she begins to realize everything she was missing out on.

This book was a touching but also weird and intriguing. At some points i was disgusted at what pranks MAL did, but also at some points i was so touched by the kindness and generosity of some people. You never expected what would happen next just like how you never knew when Megan would run away and come back with a whole new hairstyle in a weird color.
